Fall sings a song to my heart that lights it on fire. The air cools, sweaters come out of storage, leaves turn to orange and gracefully fall from trees and I burst with giddiness at the beauty God has created. It is safe to say that fall is my favorite season and the thought of pumpkins makes my heart go pitter patter.
But growing up in college town nothing says "fall has arrived" more than the kickoff of football season. Trey goes nuts for football. College or NFL. Football is gold at our house so I wanted to incorporate that into our mantel this fall in a cheeky way and I'm pretty sure I nailed it :)
Trey and I flew through all five seasons of Friday Night Lights and have adopted Coach Taylor's "Clear eyes, full hearts, can't lose" mantra as our own. When I found this print from Bodish Blog Shop on Etsy I knew it had to come live with us. I like that it is a positive daily reminder to live your life with a full heart while you keep your eye on the prize.
Now all I need are some pumpkins to really get this fall mantel party started! I like how the floral painting pulls rich primary colors instead of lighter pastels which you would typically see in spring floral prints. I think it adds a bit of floral (me) and a bit of football (Trey) for a perfect fall mixture that doesn't focus too heavily on orange which as a Sooner fan is a no no color in our house. Also, can we talk about how cute those mini gingham canvases are? I'll be putting up a tutorial on how I made those soon!
After I add some pumpkin pretties I'll update the photos (not to mention clean the paint/grout splatters off the black metal.) Oh well real life and DIY is messy! It adds character right? :)
Have a fabulous Monday friends! I'll be working on tiling the kitchen today... wish me luck!
