This Lake Life Is Grand.
It was hotter than all get out this weekend, but it was my first true lake trip this summer and I loved every minute of it. I spent the weekend at my bestfriend, Shelby’s family lake house on Grand Lake. I sort of crashed Shelby and her mini me and mom's weekend, but things have been crazy town and this girl needed to relax. Thank God for good friends!
I had the best time. The house and view are so picturesque I could cry. It’s the kind of lake house that has been passed down from generation to generation and is filled to the brim with memories. The kind of lake house that makes you instantly relax as you step in the door and instantly excited for the fun times about to begin.
Usually we have more of our besties in tow for our annual lake trip to her house, but schedules just get crazier and crazier as you get older, so we have one on the books for later this summer. I am so excited I could burst! I miss those girls like crazy! The laughs, the memories, the crazy times all make me super sappy and sentimental.
I’m definitely an old soul, (I've been lovingly called grandma once or twice) so it shouldn’t surprise them that I think about how “these are the days” that we will look back on when we are old and gray while sitting right next to them on the dock. We chat about how each year or couple of years a new little mini will be joining us and we know they’ll all be fast friends too.
Something about the lake makes me super sentimental. Maybe its how time moves a lot slower when you take a minute to look around or heck just look up from our main distraction. Taking a moment to absorb all that God has created, in all of its glory with the original camera… our eyeballs. I call it living on "lake time" because schedules don't matter, you don't make appointments to swim or schedule time to layout, you can cook or eat a snack anytime you feel like it, you don't rush, you just let go and let be.
Occasionally living on "lake time" leads to sunburns in awkward places like only the tops of your thighs and shins. I gotta say I'm looking forward to that tan line. Before I foolishly got a sunburn, Shelby helped snap some cute photos of the Lake Tanks Abbie and I designed. You have no idea how excited I am that we actually have pictures of our tanks at the lake! Click here to grab one before they are gone!
Always, always, always find friends who let you be your silly self and even better, find friends who will join in on the silliness with you! Shout out to Shelby who rocked her new Lake Life tank and was such a good sport helping me with this and modeling my favorite design!
Happy Monday friends!
